One of the most common faults we find our customers tell us about, with portable staging, is the fact that risers are opened out in the air instead of along the ground.
Risers are the legs that open out to allow the stage deck to be placed on top, they are a cross network of aluminium poles and black nlyon rods, which are opened to give a stong secure base.
When the riser is opened in the hands off the ground, the joints are stressed and will bend ever so slightly. This means that the aluminium actually scrapes down the sides of the black nylon rods and can sometimes even create a notch in the rod, meaning the next time the riser is opened, it may catch one of those notches and bend the black plastic rods.
This then becomes the start of many problems. having tested risers for over 10 years we know that most problems with bent, insecure or faulty riser parts can be traced back to the riser not being opened correctly along the ground.
To solve this issue, simply take the riser and open it along the ground from the very centre. This will then make sure you get lots of years use from your staging.
If all else fails remember Revostage staging parts are all available online to order. They are very easy to replace with limited DIY skills.
The longer a riser is used with bent rods and fixings, the more eventual damage is done, remember to replace the part or you could end up having to replace the whole stage riser.
