The pros and cons of staging coverings, is a relatively limited field, due to the fact that manufacturers only offer a small range. There are some manufacturers who will allow for bespoke coverings, in fact you can supply your own to the actual manufactures of the stage. In terms of look and feel this is mainly down to opinion of the user. Carpet tends to offer a longer life as all vinyl coverings can be prone to shrinkage if not stored in ideal conditions. Some manufacturers glues can fail in cold or hot conditions and sometimes causing the surface covering to lift from the platform and create a trip hazard. Carpet definitely looks newer for longer, although vinyl could be preferred in applications where the surface may be exposed to liquids or moisture. When choosing your staging covering be sure to check all manufacturer options.
